About the Artist

Nancy Taves is a self taught Canadian Realist painter living in small town Ontario.  After a successful career with Bell Canada, retirement brought new opportunities and time to pursue her passion to paint.  Working mostly in oils and acrylics, she finds inspiration in everyday life and beauty all around her.  You will always find a painting on her easel in her home studio, but she can also be seen set up in the great outdoors, en plein air, capturing the colours, lights, and shadows of rutal life.  An avid Bruce Trail hiker, many of her paintings depict the beauty and serenity of scenes not otherwise viewed.

Nancy is an active member of the Central Ontario Art Association and her work has shown and sold in local galleries and has been juried into shows at The Homer Watson Gallery, Kitchener, The Minto Gallery, Harriston, The Art District Gallery, Waterloo, and The Assembly Hall Gallery, Etobicoke. She was awarded best oil/acrylic in Crossection 2023 in Etobicoke for her painting, Just Chillin'.

For the last six years, Nancy has been a participant and chairperson of the New Hamburg Art Tour and, as such, was the catalyst for attaining the re-committment of local artists and, the recruiting of new artists, to ensure the ongoing success of the tour in New Hamburg.  The

Tour has since become a major community event for the Township of Wilmot.
